CEO of FSM Petroleum Corporation (VITAL), Mr. Jared Morris, making a presentation on biofuels in the FSM during the Energy Summit in Chuuk, June 6-7, 2013.
According to Jared, FSM needs another 50 megawatt of power if we were to boost tourism anywhere near Palau's current level in the near future.
In general, FSM ambition is to reduce dependence on fossil fuel, improve energy distribution efficiency, and increase use of renewable energy.
To date, the most utilized renewable energy is from solar powered systems.
The FSM PetrCorp is currently undertaking a survey of coconut plants throughout the country as part of the development of a prospective biofuel source in the FSM -- COCONUT: the tree and the oil it produces.
