President Christian Receives the Ambassador of the United Kingdom



 On Friday, August 28, 2015, President Peter M. Christian received the Letter of Credence of Ambassador Roderick Ian Drummond, officially accrediting him as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom with residence in Suva, Fiji. This year marks the 23rd Anniversary of relations between the FSM and the United Kingdom established in August 1992. This is the first Presentation of Credentials for the new administration.

The brief ceremony was followed by a courtesy call which provided an opportunity for exchanges of views on issues of common interests between the two countries. President Christian congratulated the newly appointed Ambassador on his accreditation. As a member of the European Union, the President also took the opportunity to convey appreciation for assistance through the European Development Fund mechanism in the field of renewable energy.

Both President Christian and Ambassador Drummond reaffirmed that the two countries continue to elevate its friendship by strengthening its bilateral relationship.

Accompanying the Ambassador was his wife Madame Yasmin Drummond. Also present at the ceremony were Secretary of the Department of Justice, Joses Gallen, Secretary of the Department of Finance & Administration, Sihna Lawrence, Acting Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Carl D. Apis and Former Speaker Dohsis Halbert.
