For
the past 25 years, JICA has been dispatching Japan Overseas Cooperation
Volunteers (JOCVs) with various technical capacities to work in different
sectors and organizations in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). We are
pleased to welcome Mr. Atsushi Nagata, another new JOCV who is ready to embark
on a two years life changing journey here in the FSM. He has been dispatched to
Chuuk State on April 3, 2014 after one week briefing in Pohnpei. Mr. Nagata will be working with Chuuk State
Environmental Protection Agency.
With
the arrival of the new volunteer, the current total number of volunteers in the
FSM is 21 (5 JOCVs and 16 Senior Volunteers (SV)). In General, JICA Volunteers are working in seven sectors in Micronesia
namely; Technician development in infrastructure maintenance, industrial
promotion, tourism, health and medical service, non-communicable disease
prevention, agriculture and fisheries, basic math education, and waste
management.
We
wish Mr. Nagata all the best as he helps promote the sharing of technical
knowledge and skills, as well as mutual understanding between the FSM and
Japan.
