Mrs. Maria Linda Mendez commissioned as First Honorary Consul of Spain in the FSM

FSMIS (October 15, 2013): On October 11, Mrs. Maria Linda Mendez, was officially received by FSM Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lorin S. Robert, as the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Spain in the Federated States of Micronesia in a brief ceremony held at the FSM Department of Foreign Affairs Conference Room.

Secretary Robert welcomed Mrs. Mendez, congratulated her and acknowledged the significance of the event of marking the first official Honorary Consul of Spain in the FSM. As the highlighted of the ceremony, Secretary Robert presented to Mrs. Mendez as Exequatur from FSM President Manny Mori in which the President expressed his consent to and acceptance of her appointment as the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Spain in the FSM.

In her remark, Mrs. Mendez expressed her gratitude to President Mori for accepting her appointment and commented on her diverse family background and experiences.   She affirmed that it was a privilege and honor for her to take up the Honorary Consul role in the FSM. Mrs. Mendez also indicated that she looks forward to serving and strengthening the cooperation between the FSM and the Kingdom of Spain, two diverse countries with strong historical ties.
 
At the ceremony Mrs. Mendez was accompanied by her husband, and several other family members.

Mrs. Mendez is married to Mr. Juan Mendez of Venezuela and they have four children. They live in Pohnpei State.
