FSM’s Movick-Inatio and Aldis attend SPTO Tourism Workshop in Nadi, Fiji

From September 23-24, a workshop on Investment Promotion Tools and Techniques was held at the Hexagon International Hotel in Nadi organized by the South Pacific Tourism Organization (SPTO), with funding from the Pacific Regional Tourism Capacity Building Programme (PRTCP), sourced by the European Development Fund (EDF-10).

FSM recently became a SPTO member.

The workshop brought together senior Tourism and Investment officials of the Forum Island Countries (FICs) to share information on Investment opportunities in the Pacific region and to provide training modules on how the FICs could strengthen its Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) and improve coordination between its IPAs and National Tourism Offices (NTOs) in promoting investment opportunities in its Tourism sector. The training modules focused on collection and management of data, project profiling, marketing investment opportunities, and social media and e-marketing.

A “train the trainer” component was included in the workshop to provide tips and guides for senior officials to provide training to new officers in their organizations.

This workshop will prove useful to addressing the issues identified at the last FSM Investment Facilitation Symposium held in Pohnpei last May.

FSM was represented at this workshop by Mrs. Camille Movick-Inatio, Assistant Secretary for Trade and Investment, and Mr. Bermance Aldis, Program Manager for Tourism from the FSM Department of Resources and Development.

For further information, contact Mrs. Movick-Ination or Mr. Aldis at the department via phone number 320-2646 or email cmovick@fsmrd.fm.
