The FSM National Trade Facilitation Committee to review draft Fisheries Policy and other matters at its 7th meeting

FSMIS (January 15, 2014): The Federated States of Micronesia National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC) will hold its seventh meeting on January 20-21 at the Tuna Commission Anex Building in Kolonia, Pohnpei.

The FSM State Governors have been invited by Vice President Alik L. Alik, NTFC chairman, to nominate three representatives from their respective States who will participate at the meeting.

At this meeting, the NTFC will:

-- progress review of the Investment Facilitation Symposium Matrix;
-- review the FSM draft Investment Guide;
-- review the FSM Export Strategy;
-- undertake consultations on the Micronesian Trade Committee Draft Treaty; and
-- progress review on other on-going trade negotiations.

Subsequent to the NTFC meeting, there will also be a review of the draft FSM Fisheries Policy which has been developed with assistance from the Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) with consultative review by stakeholders. The draft policy requires adoption by the NTFC.

The Department of Resources and Development is the focal point for all trade and investment matters, including fisheries related issues.
