JICA in FSM (January 22, 2014): On December 14, 2013, JICA Senior
Volunteer Fumihiro Nakao from the College of Micronesia – Fisheries and
Maritime Institute hosted an exhibition entitled “Hiroshima・Nagasaki
Atomic Bomb Photo Poster Show” which was held at the Mess Hall at COM-FMI, Yap
with assistance of Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation, his students and other
JICA volunteers. The event conveyed a significant message to the audience about
war. Now, wars have been going on around the world and many children and many
people have been affected. Mr. Nakao’s personal message to the
visitors stated “The war is not a World Event that happened in the past. The
war is going on in our world now. Let’s think together once again for Peace of
the World”.
The event began by welcoming of visitors followed by an exhibition
of posters, photographs, and books of the Atomic bomb in Hiroshima and
Nagasaki. The visitors also had the opportunity to view DVD broadcastings about
the Atomic Bomb damage in Hiroshima, learned about how to fold a paper crane
and made Senbazuru, which means one thousand paper crane birds, as a symbol of
Peace, and many other informative activities. There were a total of fifty-five
visitors at the Atomic Bomb Exhibition.
