FSM to honor world food day on October 16

FSMIS (October 9, 2013): Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) President Manny Mori has declared October 16, 2013 to be “World Food Day” in the FSM in response to an invitation to all Member Nations in the United Nations from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

This day will be celebrated through festivities in parts of the FSM under the theme “Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition”.

President Mori stresses that food security and overcoming the challenges of climate change as the FSM’s priorities in economic and social developments.

As part of the proclamation, the President urges FSM citizens to participate in the various World Food Day celebrations that will be made available throughout the Nation.
