FSM welcomes Arbabsair's guilty plea in Saudi Arabian Ambassador's assassination plot

The FSM welcomes the news that Mansour Arbabsair has pleaded guilty in US

federal court for the role he played in the plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian

Ambassador in Washington D.C. Had this plot not been disrupted, it would likely

have resulted in the injury or death of the Saudi Ambassador and many other

innocent people. Arbabsair is scheduled to be sentence by the federal judge in

New York on January 23, 2013 bringing to closure his case that began in

September 2011 when he was arrested at JFK International Airport.

Arbabsair's guilty plea provided clear evidence not only of his involvement in the

plot but the involvement of Iranian government officials at the highest levels. The

FSM joins the international community in not only condemning this terrorist plot

targeting diplomats but stating clearly that this behavior is unacceptable and will

not be tolerated.

The FSM will continue to work closely with its neighbors and allies in increasing

law enforcement and intelligence focus on terrorist activities and transnational

crimes in our region.
