Maysak relief fund donations, current status

FSMIS (May 01, 2015): As of today, May 1^st, the Federated States of Micronesia Department of Finance and Administration confirms the receipt of the following donations for deposit in the Maysak disaster relief fund.

1. Government of the People’s Republic of China	$500,000.00
2. Government of the Republic of Palau	$75,000.00
3. The World Health Organization (WHO)	$5,000.00
4. Tuvalu Permanent Mission to UN	$500.00
5. A Private Donor from Palau	$500.00
Total	$581,000.00

   

These donations are received and managed by the Treasury Division of the FSM Finance to be used strictly for Maysak disaster relief.

The FSM Government has appropriated $1,500,000.00 for relief matters. According to a Treasury staff, the FSM appropriation and the foreign donations are not kept together, but they may be used in the same way, for the same purposes.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has also provided a communication from the Government of the Republic of the Philippines, which indicates a message of condolences and a pledge of $50,000 USD to be provided for relief efforts. The FSM Treasury has not yet received the pledged donation.
