Bangkok, Thailand – On December
12, 2013, His Excellency Akillino H. Susaia, Ambassador of the Federated States
of Micronesia to the Royal Kingdom of Thailand, took part in a ceremony to
present his Credentials to the Government of Thailand. Ambassador Susaia was among other resident
and non-resident Ambassadors presenting their credentials to His Majesty King Bhumibol
Adulyadej. At the ceremony, His
Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajirolongkorn received the letters of
credence on behalf of his Majesty who was ill for the occasion.
Ambassador Susaia had been
cross-accredited earlier to Thailand, in accordance with the Thai Government’s
rules and regulations on accrediting Ambassadors. Based in Beijing, China, he
had long awaited for the opportunity to present his credentials to the
Government of Thailand.
In his statement on the occasion,
Ambassador Susaia extended greetings from President Manny Mori to His Majesty King
Adulyadej and expressed his wish for the ‘good health and prosperity’ for His
Majesty and the people of Thailand.
Ambassador referred to Thailand’s role in the Asia-Pacific region as
critical given its rise as one of the emerging economies in the region. He referred to the visit of President Mori in
November 2013 to Bangkok in search of opportunities in the area of tourism,
fisheries, and other sectors, as a testament to FSM’s desire to enhance the
development cooperation between FSM and Thailand.
In response, His Majesty wished
President Mori and the people of FSM happiness as well as prosperity. He stated that the standing good relations
between FSM and Thailand is made possible because of the “friendly ties, mutual
understanding and sincere goodwill” that the two countries continue to
enjoy.
Ambassador Susaia is the first
FSM Ambassador to be accredited to the Royal Kingdom of Thailand.
