New JICA Volunteers Dispatched to Pohnpei State




 Ms. Stacy Yleizah from the FSM Department of Foreign Affairs with new JICA volunteers Ms. Mitsuko Mori, Mr. Toshiaki Sugiura, and Dr. Kazuhide Okada.

 On October 4, 2013, FSM Department of Foreign Affairs welcomes three new JICA Senior Expert Volunteers to the Federated States of Micronesia. Since 1989, The Japan International Cooperation Agency has been dispatching volunteers into the FSM, assisting priority sectors in Education, Health, Agriculture, Environment, Fishery, Tourism and other fields. Currently, twenty-eight volunteers are serving in the FSM, including the three new Senior Expert Volunteers who all will serve two years in their respective posts.

The new volunteers are dispatched to the College of Micronesia (COM)-FSM. Located at the Cooperative Research Extension (CRE) Division is Ms. Mitsuko Mori. Previously, Ms. Mori was a nutritionist at Social Insurance Shiga Hospital for thirty-one years and for the last five years she was an instructor at a nursing school before starting her work at COM-FSM as a Nutritionist. Mr. Toshiaki Sugiura will also work at the CRE Division to support Agricultural Product Processing. Mr. Sugiura was a former high school teacher in Nagano Prefecture for thirty-five years before beginning his post at COM-FSM. Lastly, dispatched to the Division of Trade and Technology (T&T) is Dr. Kazuhide Okada, whom will assist in Telecommunications. His past experiences include working at IBM Japan Incorporated Laboratory and Toyota Motor Corporation for product development.
