FSMIS (September 14, 2013): As his first message to the new Prime Minister of Australia, FSM President Manny Mori extended to the PM on September 12:
"As you prepare to assume the tasks of office, I am confident that with your able leadership, Australia will continue to prosper and play a key role in regional and global affairs. Australia's presence in FSM and assistance to our security and development cooperation remain vital as we strive to tackle domestic, regional and global challenges we face today. I look forward to further strengthen the ties of friendship, and wish to reaffirm FSM's commitment to our regional engagement and solidarity."
Honorable Abbot is the 28th Prime Minister of Australia as a result of the September 7 election that gave Australians a break of leadership under the Labor Party and handled the Coalition a leadership momentum.
Australia opened its Embassy in the FSM in 1989, one year after the two established diplomatic ties.
